EIVIND
Artist, Songwriter
EIVIND - Eivind Løberg (born 1963) - is a singer, composer and choir conductor from Sunndalsøra on the west coast of Norway. Over several decades, he has worked extensively within soul music and vocal traditions, both as a performer and educator.
During the 1990s, Løberg lived and studied music in the United States and Norway, focusing on arranging and composition at institutions including Growl Music in Los Angeles, Berklee College of Music in Boston, the University of Agder in Kristiansand, and the conservatory in Tromsø. His career has been marked by a wide-ranging musical life, in which performance, communication, and teaching have all played central roles.
The album project EIVIND began in the summer of 2024 under unusual, organic circumstances. Living out of his camper van and travelling across Norway, Løberg reached out to renowned drummer and producer Kim Ofstad (D’Sound) for a spontaneous jam session. They met at Lauvøya in Åfjord, where Løberg had brought both a keyboard and a drum kit inside the van.
The session was captured on a mobile phone and shared on social media, where the clips quickly gained traction, reaching over 2 million views. The strong response, combined with Løberg’s songwriting, led Ofstad to invite him to Oslo to further develop the material. What started as an impromptu meeting soon evolved into a full album project.
EIVIND brings with him a catalogue of songs written over more than 30 years, many of which have never been released. In the studio, the material is being reimagined through new arrangements. Ofstad contributes live drums and percussion, while Løberg performs the remaining instruments. Trumpet recordings are provided by Pål Gunnar Fiksdal.
The recording process has been intensive throughout February and March, and the album remains in development. Additional collaborators will be announced, including international vocalists connected through Ofstad’s network. Among them is American singer and songwriter Mike Terrell, who features on the first single, “How Hard I Tried.”
Blending timeless soul influences with a deeply personal and organic approach to production, EIVIND is shaping into a distinctive and long-awaited artistic statement from a musician with decades of untapped material.
