Johannes Groth
Artist, Composer, Session Musician, Band Leader
Johannes Groth is a fusion artist and musician from Norway. As a full-time musician, songwriter and producer for almost 15 years, he has worked with many exciting artists, bands and projects. E.g. Ylvis, Ole Børud, Hanne Sørvaag & Trine Rein. His passion for creating instrumental music goes back to his childhood. An old Casio keyboard hooked up to an Olivetti computer with primitive recording software was his playground for many years. At 12, he joined a rock band in his hometown, Sarpsborg. This led to different rock and prog bands during his teenage years, experimenting with different instruments and finding his place with the keys and the guitar.
To do music as a profession was always the goal, and from his early 20s, Johannes worked as a freelance musician and music producer. He ran his studio in the PhatCat Studios collective in Oslo and under the name Groth Music, and then he moved to Arendal, south of Norway, to start a family. After moving to the south, Johannes started spending more time on his instrumental ideas. This resulted in a few shorter music pieces, which he shared on social media. The inspiration to make full-length instrumental tracks and release an album was always present, and in 2024, Johannes started working towards his first release.
