Finn Kalvik
Artist, Songwriter
Finn Kalvik is one of Norway’s most famous singer-songwriters. He had his record debut in 1969 with the single “Finne meg sjæl” and in 1971, he released his first album "Tusenfryd og grå hverdag".
From the start, Finn Kalvik has proven himself to be a great tone setter of poems form poets like André Bjerke and Inger Hagerup. His collaborations with Inger Hagerup became a corner stone in Finn's life, and they had a close collaboration until Inger's passing in 1985.
His albums "Finn" in 1972 and "Nøkkelen ligger under matta" in 1974, established Finn Kalvik as one of the great songwriters in Scandinavia. In 1975, Finn Kalvik released the single "Ride ranke" - Finns' thought-provoking Norwegian rendition of Harrry Chapin's "Cats in the Cradle". "Ride ranke" is today one of several Kalvik songs to be a part of the syllabus in the Norwegian school system.
Finn is still active today and with a career spanning more than 50 years he has released a huge number of hits and 20 studio albums. The last five years, Finn Kalvik has spent much of his time exploring the art of painting, and in his atelier in Oslo he finds painting to be a good diversion from his music.
